The original trailer for Star Wars IV, A New Hope....
I remember when this was new and not nostalgia. SIGH....
Until next time,

My son loves Star Wars, but I've never watched one episode in my life. I've never really been a big sci fi fan.
ReplyDeleteOH NO NO NO..she screams..never seen Star Wars... (just kidding). I am the Star Wars fanatic in my home. The oldest watches intermittently and the youngest has no use for it. Hubby thinks I'm totally nuts altogether between Star Wars and Star Trek. He says I will watch any story as long as it is in outer space... well yeah...
DeleteHaha, I remember too - my sister took me to see Star Wars when I was 12. For the record, I refuse to refer to this film as SW4: A New Hope. It's just Star Wars. Or, if pressed for a more specific name - The Original Star Wars Movie. I really hate the prequels.
ReplyDeleteTrish- I remember for Star Wars Return of the Jedi, the hubby picked my up from my last law school exam, we bought a pizza and waited on line to see it. Considering that SW is such a cult phenomenon today, I was really surprised more people weren't on line with us. I also remember when after the last scene all I wanted was more story. I supposed I couldn't have been the only one as there are dozens and dozens of Star Wars books out there.
DeleteI don't dislike the prequels but I don't love them either I think the problem is that you knew in the end what was going to happen and there was no surprise. OK but I did go back and see Revenge of the Sith several times in the theater too. I liked the CGI and the updated fighting scenes and of course the overall special effects. The fact that Lucas messed with some of the plot was not helpful.
But in truth I think the only thing people really cared about was the final fight between Obi-Wan and Anakin. If Lucas had started from that point it would have been better and then we could have watched them grow up and how the rebellion was formed. But considering he did pretty OK for himself in life I guess he did know what he was doing.
I have to say I didn't like how Padme became so useless in the end. Lucas took an incredibly strong woman and turned her into mush because she was pregnant. Pregnancy if anything makes a woman stronger and more determined. He did get that one backwards too.
