Snow in Jerusalem, Israel

It snowed this morning in Israel's capital. Check out this picture, The Kotel (Western Wall) and the Temple Mount (Al-Aqsa Mosque) covered in snowy goodness.

Here are some updated pictures of Jerusalem, Israel in snow from The Times of Israel...

Some more pictures from The Real Jerusalem Streets

More from  The Times of Israel's snow covered Jerusalem pictorials.

  1. Is it normal for Israel to get snow? It seems very nice.

    1. Hi Jim,

Actually I don't think so I know it snowed last winter. But before that I think its was decades. There is a terrific pictorial blog called The Real Jerusalem Streets that shows what really goes on in Jerusalem and how people live.

    1. Hi Stacie,

I don't now how people are reacting this year but here are pictures from last year's snow http://blogs.timesofisrael.com/at-long-last-snow-in-jerusalem/

I would hazard a guess that since snow is generally very rare in Jerusalem, even though it has now happened two years in a row, the people will do the same as last year; snowball fights in the public parks, snowmen, families taking their children out to see the snow and the odd crank who complains about everything :)

  3. Last year there was a little snow and it melted quickly: http://rjstreets.com/2012/03/04/snow-in-jerusalem/ Today's snow fall was significant by anyone's standard. Inches and inches and still more coming, not like Jerusalem, Israel has seen in 20 years.

    2. Sometimes you get what you ask for and guess what? More than enough, it is melting now, but first I did this: http://blogs.timesofisrael.com/finally-enough-snow-in-jerusalem/

    3. The irony here is that this is now one of the most read posts on my blog and its not my handiwork at all but the work of God (and of course some extremely talented photographers)...actually I suppose I should not be surprised....:)
